Over the years there have been innumerable cases of soldiers throwing themselves on grenades and other types of bombs in order to save their comrades. By all accounts heavy, wet, semi-soft objects like bodies absorb the blast very well. This is apparently why bombs hidden in body cavities are rather ineffective.
