Social Security Administration, 300 Million Americans Not Exposed

I just got my “Your Social Security Statement” in the mail. The very first words on the top of it are “Prevent identity theft—protect your social security number.” Inside, it only prints the password to my cell phone last 4 digits. If your bank, school, or employer does worse, ask them why they’re less enlightened than a government bureaucracy.

And how many organizations simply ask for the last 4 digits to verify your identity and validate it against your address?
I believe the SSA should simply publish the numbers as they are assigned. It’s just a number, not an identity.
