California Privacy Law

CIO Magazine has an article “Riding The California Privacy Wave,” reviewing California’s new and pending privacy laws. There’s bits I wasn’t aware of, such as SB 186 168, preventing “businesses from using California residents’ Social Security numbers as unique identifiers.” There’s a slew of new laws in California, a great many of which affect IT operations and choices if you have California customers, even without a ‘business presence’ there.

Update: Fixed bill number. Thanks (again) Mort.
